About Us.

A team of highly experienced and knowledgeable filmmakers and logistics specialists was assembled and Location Nepal was founded in 2009.

Our team of veteran industry professionals, with decades of filmmaking and photography experience, is dedicated to supporting feature films, documentaries, foreign films, television series, and still photography shoot in Nepal.

We produce as well as support the production of national and international commercial campaigns in Nepal for a variety of clients, and garner creative and constructive relationship with most major advertising agencies, creative directors, International production houses, and still photographers all over the world. Dedicated to pushing the envelope when it comes to scale and quality of production, we pride ourselves in being at the forefront of filmmaking and photography. We are fortunate to be blessed with a dynamic and talented team of highly respected producers in the industry, who exhibit tremendous passion for what they do, and work brilliantly both as leaders and as part of teams. One of our defining traits is the diversity of people who work with us. This diversity adds an element of fun and intrigue on our sets along with the pursuit for quality and perfection.

Location Nepal is a sister company of Films & Adfilms which looks after the logistics and location management for international film shoots of any magnitude in Nepal.

With the increasing popularity of Nepal as a filming destination for global filmmakers over the past few decades, it was imperative to map out and archive the diverse and exotic landscape of Nepal in detail.

Keeping this vision in mind, Films & Adfilms decided to establish a sister company “Location Nepal” to take charge of this monumental task.

Since its inception, the team has traveled far and wide, high and low, to every nook and corner of Nepal’s rugged geographical and cultural landscape and recorded her filming potential with high resolution photos and videos. From the world's highest perennial snowcapped mountains in the north, to the hot, low plains in the south - with every imaginable earthly terrain in between - Location Nepal has been charting and archiving the territory with great detail and enthusiasm; we truly present a treasure-chest of filming locations at your disposal.

Meet the Team

PREM UPADHYA

DIRECTOR/ LINE PRODUCER
Educated in Welham Boy’s School in Dehradun, India, in his early years. Later, went to a boarding school in the UK, where, after finishing his ‘A’ levels, he took keen interest in photography and then became an apprentice with Bill King and worked under Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and some other when they shot for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar. Later, he joined the Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) and completed a three-year course in Cinematography. He has worked for hundreds of commercials, documentaries and features in India and Nepal as Director of Photography (DOP), Director and Line Producer.
GAUTAM DHIMAL

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/ LINE PRODUCER
With decades of experience as Producer, Director and Cinematographer under his belt, today, Gautam is the pulse that propels this company which has been the sole backbone of international film production in Nepal since the late 1990s. Visual storytelling has always been at the heart of his aspirations, and alongside filmmaking he is a published, professional fashion, advertising, and nature/wildlife photographer.
SABIN BASNET

LOCATION/ LOGISTICS MANAGER
A filmmaker by profession; actor and writer at heart, Sabin is the Logistic/Location Manager and Communications Officer at Location Nepal responsible for the colossal task of hauling men and material efficiently across Nepal's rugged terrain, and ensuring everything operates smoothly at an international standard. He has been the architect of Location Nepal since its inception, meticulously mapping and archiving the diverse landscape the country has to offer to global filmmakers.
